Feeling like a Ghost

You wake up, mentally jot down everything you need to do today and add in a couple extra things that will help the loved ones around you.  While out running errands you spot something special that you think might put a smile on someone's face or you plan to make a favorite dessert for the person you love. You work tirelessly all day. By the end of the day you look around and are so excited to have accomplished all these things.

You patiently wait for your family to come home, you have so much to say about your day. You are curious how everyone else's day was. The door opens your family starts to trickle in and your standing there.. in that moment you feel a slight breeze as though they have just walked right through you.

Everyone disperses to their rooms or different parts of the house. You stay standing in that same spot. The excitement, feelings of happiness and the proud feeling all disappear. You turn around and as you pass the mirror on the wall you notice your reflection is not detected. There is no one staring back at you. Your house is now full with kids talking, sounds from the tv, dogs barking and yet; you are no where to be seen. You feel like a ghost. Empty, sad and confused.

Your hard work goes unnoticed. No one comments on the smell coming from the kitchen from the dinner you were so excited to make. All you wanted was to be seen. Instead you feel like a ghost living in a home full of people. Unseen, unheard and unappreciated.

On those days it's hard not to feel like giving up, you ask yourself why you should even put forth the effort. But tomorrow you will do the exact same thing and the day after that because you are a person that loves endlessly.

Just remember to love yourself with just as much effort as you do others.
